| Die Neue Feldpost was a booklet or magazine published for re-enactors of Grenadier Regiment 980 and collectors of German WW2 militaria in general. Its mission was to provide historical information on the common German Landser or soldier (the German GI) of World War II, and to stimulate further research on the subject. |
This lot contains the first 14 consecutive issues of Die Neue Feldpost from Nummer 1 dated November-December 1992 through Nummer 14 May-June 1995. |
The content of these heavily illustrated 5-½ x 8-½ inch booklets is very interesting and varied:
minutia on uniforms (combat waist belts, tunic collar liners, Gamaschen, for example), Wehrmacht pocket knives, MG34 machine guns, the Pistole 08, the Soldbuch and other military IDs, Wehrmacht brothels, Wehrmacht combs, Wehrmacht canteens, the Battle of Dunkirk, the anti-gas skin salve stick, German soldier rings, the Erkennungsmarke or dog tag, German Army rations, the Panzerfaust, markings on gas masks, unit histories with maps, and many examples of “Landser Lingo” complete with campy illustrations from period Bildsprecher or picture dictionaries.

Each 32-page issue of Die Neue Feldpost also had an interview with a German World War II veteran in the English language, including one with a Ukrainian Luftwaffe volunteer, an Alsatian Wehrmacht soldier, a German Normandy / D-Day veteran, Wehrmacht horse doctor, and several interviews with German veterans who fought on the Russian front.
The editor was Eric Tobey and many re-enactors and historians supplied material for Die Neue Feldpost. The 14 examples in this lot have a total of 448 pages, all in the English language! All are in very good, little-used condition, complete and without any offensive odor
