Many Third Reich book collectors are familiar with German fitness expert Hans Suren, who was a Major and Oberstarbeitsführer as well as the Head Inspector for Physical Education of the Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) and long-time leader of the Army School for Physical Education. He was also one of the main promoters of the nudist movement in Nazi Germany.

This lot consists of six fitness publications called Hans Suren: Gymnastik in Bildern und Merkworten published by Dieck & Co. Sportverlag of Stuttgart. We can not find a copyright date, but the General Instruction booklet (Allgemeine Anleitung für die Übungen) says it is the 18th edition.

Aside from the 4 x 6 inch, 64-page General Instruction booklet, the original slipcase also contains five Lehrtafel or illustrated charts with exercises. Chart A covers hip exercises, Chart B and C cover exercises to strengthen the torso, Chart D covers the neck area and Lehrtafel E has breathing and leg exercises. Each of the fold-out charts has instructions and photos and fold out to a length of about 5 feet!

On the back panel of each piece is advertising for Eszet Schokolade Kakao, a famous chocolate producer from Stuttgart. The company is still in business today and still uses the Edelweiss logo.

The six Hans Suren: Gymnastik in Bildern und Merkworten booklets are in very nice condition, however the original 4-1/8 x 6-1/8 inch cardboard slipcase shows wear. No odor.
