Sieg über Frankreich (Victory over France) is a heavily illustrated 6-¾ x 9-½ inch cloth bound Nazi hardcover history published by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht that contains timely reports and superb pictures of the overwhelming force and speed of the Nazi invasion of France, Belgium and Holland in the May / June of 1940.
The in-depth book chronicles the planning and battles, lists promotions and decorations of Nazi generals, and has chapters on Infantry and Flak Battery companies, Nazi paratroopers, Fort Eben Emael, Sedan, Gent, Luftwaffe attacks on French harbors and the Paris airport, Nazi tank and naval attacks, the battle at Dunkirk, Verdun, the Wehrmacht entering Paris, Across the Rhine to Colmar, Conquering the Maginot Line, and the humiliating French surrender at Compiègne.
The photo content is superb: Nazi generals and Fallschirmjäger, Luftwaffe attacks from the air, Wehrmacht soldiers on horseback and riding bicycles and motorcycles, Nazi tanks in cities and fields, Kriegsmarine mines,
severe battle damage, Verdun, a barrage balloon, Pioniere repairing destroyed railroads, French and English POWs, Stukas in action, soldiers with bicycles crossing the Rhine, the Wehrmacht marching down the Champs-Elysées, a German saluting the tomb of the unknown French soldier of World War I in Paris, and even a Nazi guard in front of the tomb of Napoleon!
The front and back end papers of Sieg über Frankreich have maps of France and its location in Europe. The chapters and photos are fully indexed in the back of the book.
Published by Zeitgeschichte-Verlag Wilhelm Andermann of Berlin in 1940, this is 194-page cloth-bound hardcover book is from the 46 - 100,000 print run. It is complete and in very nice, little-used condition and has no odor. The color of the linen hard covers are more brown than they appear in our photo near the top of this USMBOOKS web page.
