The strategically located city of Münster in the industrial part of western Germany, was the headquarters of the 6th Wehrkreis and the home of the VI and XXIII Infantry Corps, as well as the XXXIII and LVI Panzerkorps. A good part of the city center of Münster was destroyed during a daylight bombing raid by the 570th Squadron of the USAAF 390th Bomb Group on 10 October 1943, the same month this Honor Certificate was awarded.

Everything below Mr. Bruno Grothe on this 9-1/2 x 12-5/8 inch certificate is hand-lettered, including the name of the Regierungsvizepräsident who signed the certificate. A rare Urkunde in very nice original condition, exactly as shown.

Mr. Bruno Grothe was the recipient of this striking Ehrenurkunde or Honor Certificate after he was awarded the First Prize in the October 1943 Obst- und Gemüseausstellung, the Fruit and Vegetable Fair or Exposition held at Münster in Westfalen under the auspices of the Obst und Gemüsebauverband of Westfalen und Lippe. Artist Gustav Luschnaht designed the 9-1/2 x 12-5/8 inch Ehrenurkunde in 1936. Note the swastika in a wreath, between vegetables, fruit and flowers at the bottom and the grapevine at the top.
