This is an excellent original German language example of the 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch, 32 page illustrated softcover book Mauthausen 8.8.1938 5.5.1945 as published by Lagergemeinschaft Mauthausen (Camp Association Mauthausen). It is a German language guide of the history of the gruesome Nazi concentration camp above the Danube river that was liberated in May of 1945 by the United States Army. Even today it is the one concentration camp that still retains many of its wartime buildings and its general wartime appearance.
The heavily illustrated booklet contains gruesome photos from Konzentrationslager Mauthausen (KLM or Mauthausen Concentration Camp), a picture of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler visiting the camp, as well as a text that describes the horrible conditions and severe discipline at the SS Showpiece camp and stone quarry just east of the city of Linz, Germany (now Austria).
This undated German language booklet was apparently printed in the 1950s. It contains a plan of the grounds showing all the camp facilities including the infamous stone quarry and the staircase of death as well as wartime photos and photos of memorials erected after the war. In very good used condition.
