This is a very nice original Third Reich example of the rare 1942 Heinrich Hoffmann Bildband or photo book Moselland as written by Frid Muth and Herbert Ahrens with an introduction by Nazi Party Gauleiter Gustav Simon that was published by Verlag Heinrich Hoffmann in Munich but printed by Moselfränkischer Zeitungsverlag in Luxembourg.

The 112 page book follows the typical Hoffmann photo book format with pictures of the industry, scenery, agriculture and tourist attractions of the Moselland or Mosel region of Germany as well as photos and captions that show the Nazi Party and its members and the German Armed Forces as a powerful force in the area.

The Moselland or Mosel region is a descriptive term for a region in extreme western Germany from Koblenz to Cologne and into what is now Luxemburg and Belgium - the land in the watershed of the Moselle River. It is wine country, it is full of mines that produce all sorts of semi-precious stones as well as mining and manufacturing industries. Since it includes what is now the country of Luxemburg, there is a photo of German troops at the time they took over the broadcasting facilities of Radio Luxemburg.

The photo on the cover shows a German soldier on the escarpment of Ehrenbreitstein looking down of the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine rivers at Koblenz.

This is one of the latest and hardest-to-find of all of the photo books produced by Heinrich Hoffmann during the Third Reich and is from the First (and probably only) edition of 22,000 copies.

The front end paper (left) was added to this Hoffmann Bildband when it was given as a commemorative present to Flieger, Marine, Motor, Nachrichten und Feuerwehr H-J at Trier and Wengerohr after finishing training in July 1943.   The fountain pen signature is from the Obergebietsführer Rolf Karbach.

The front cover has been replaced and the dust jacket is a professional reproduction from an original dust jacket in our archive. The pages of the book are complete and in good used condition.
