Der Fuehrer, Hitler’s Rise to Power was written by German journalist and author Konrad Heiden (who also wrote A History of National Socialism). Heiden was one of the first critical observers of the rise of Nazism in Germany after he attended a NSDAP meeting in his hometown of Munich in 1921. This 5-½ x 8-¼ inch, 788-page red hardcover translation was published in English by Houghton Mifflin Company of Boston in 1944, three years after Heiden escaped from Europe.

Der Fuehrer, Hitler’s Rise to Power is an insightful, lively view of Adolf Hitler, National Socialism and Nazi Germany as a result of extensive on-the-spot observations and thorough research done by Konrad Heiden. The translation is by American translator Ralph Manheim, one of the most acclaimed German translators of the 20th century who also translated Mein Kampf in 1943.
