It is signed by an Oberleutnant of the Kompanie and above the eagle and swastika rubber stamp the date 1 March 1944 is written with a fountain pen.
A
bsolutely original to the Third Reich, in nice used condition, exactly as shown. The tear to the right of the word VATERLAND was repaired a long time ago with what looks like paper tape.
RETURN OF WEHRPASS OF FALLEN SOLDIER GEORG WELCKER
The letter with the Iron Cross in the letterhead (shown left) was addressed to the father of Georg Welcker who died an honorable death on the battlefield. It is dated 25 February 1943, originated at the Wehrmeldeamt Hamburg 4 and originally accompanied the Wehrpass of the fallen soldier which was being returned to the family to assist with possible inheritance and/or pension matters and so they had a record of his military service.
The letter is signed by an Oberstleutnant named Kruger next to the eagle and swastika rubber stamp of the Wehrmeldeamt Hamburg 4 located at the Kaserne Bundestrasse.
While many of these letters must have been sent out during World War II, we have only seen a very few!
This original 1943 Nazi letter regarding Georg Welcker is **SOLD**.
