The second section is titled Aus dem Soldatenleben (From Soldier Life) and has pictures of Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia Freiherr von Neurath sharing a meal with members of the Wehrmacht, official Wehrmacht representative Infantry General Erich Friderici and his wife visiting wounded soldiers in hospital, men of the cavalry and Luftwaffe, training and shooting practice, watch duty, leisure time playing sports, Nazi soldiers enjoying musical entertainment and listening to a Volksempfänger (left).
In Bild und Wort durch Böhmen und Mähren was produced by Major Dr. Ritter von Goß with text by Dr. Walther Michalitschke and pictures by Gerold Grupp. This First Edition (of only 50,000) was published by Verlag "Die Wehrmacht” of Berlin-Charlottenburg in 1940 and printed in German occupied Prague.
This 83 year old example is in very nice, little-used condition with some wear to the cover. Tight spine, no odor.
Czechoslovakia was a new country formed out of parts of Germany, Poland, and other countries after World War I. Following the 30 September 1938 Munich Agreement, the Sudetenland portion of Czechoslovakia (largely populated by ethnic Germans) was quickly incorporated into Adolf Hitler’s Greater Germany. The German annexation of the provinces of Bohemia and Moravia in March 1939 enlarged Grossdeutschland again, and the Third Reich book we offer here was created for members of the Wehrmacht who had been involved in these military actions.
The Foreword to the Kameraden explains that the soldiers who participated in the military campaigns were led to Bohemia and Moravia by the Führer and that the Wehrmacht “took over the protection of the land”. It goes on to say, many participated in the difficult task - soldiers on the front line as well as the men who supported them and had their backs. All should be proud of their accomplishments in securing Germany’s future and destiny!
This 1940 commemorative book for German soldiers of the Bohemia and Moravia campgaign is for sale for $125.00 delivered by Media Mail in the continental USA.
