This heavily illustrated hardcover photo book Das Jahr VI by Dr. E.R. Uderstadt was published in 1939 and looks back on the sixth year of National Socialist power in Germany - achievements by and facts about the NSDAP in the year 1938. The 7-1/8 x 9-¾ inch, 100 page hardcover book has 74 carefully selected photographs that illustrate those achievements. It was published by Freiheitsverlag GmbH of Berlin in the same format as the other Das Jahr books published since 1933 (see links at the bottom of this USMBOOKS web page).

Photographs show Hitler in "liberated" Vienna, members of the German Wehrmacht in Austria, the Hermann Göringwerke in Linz decorated with Nazi swastika flags, Hitler's visit to Benito Mussolini in Italy, the huge Sport Festival in Breslau, cultural venues in Dessau, Saarbrücken, Hitler at the Reichsparteitag in Nürnberg, portraits of important German indsutrialists (Professor Messerschmitt, Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, Professor Ernst Heinkel) and Dr. Fritz Todt, the new KdF ship "Robert Ley" and construction of the huge KdF hotel on Rügen, construction of the Westwall by the RAD, famous Germans from the Sudetenland (Reichsstatthalter Seyss-Inquart, Gauleiter Bürckel, Konrad Henlein), a parade to celebrate the finished construction of the first 3000 kilometers of the Reichsautobahn, the KdF Wagen, new Nazi medals and even the Honor Courtyard of the New Reichschancellery.

The book starts with the most important change of the year - the reunification of Austria with Nazi Germany after the historic plebiscite in the spring of 1938. Other subjects covered are the Axis, culture, agriculture and the re-armament of Germany.

This original 77 year old Third Reich book recapping the sixth year of National Socialist power in Germany is complete and in very good used condition.
