The very cynical foreword explains that Churchill is so busy waging war against Adolf Hitler's Germany, and with this naval battles in the Atlantic and Pacific and retreat from the European continent, that he has no time to remember what he used to say about the Communist regime in the Soviet Union. This book was assembled to refresh Mr. Churchill's memory AND illustrate to the population of European countries "who they are teaming up with on the battlefield against European civilization!"
Plenty of source material was available to the publisher and they decided NOT to use German press material, but British and American press caricatures and cartoons to get the point of the book across! The point being that in spite of the Russian invasion of Poland along with the Wehrmacht, Churchill changed his tune and approach towards the Soviet Union to try to defeat Nazi Germany, proof that he was an untrustworthy ally and a hypocrite.
Mein Bundesgenosse or My Ally is a heavily illustrated 1942 Nazi propaganda book published by the SS Publishing House Nibelungen-Verlag. It contains two decades of quotes and opinions by Winston Churchill, stating that the only ally of the British Prime Minister on the European continent really is one man - Joseph Stalin: the head of the murderous Bolshevik regime, and that Churchill was an untrustworthy ally. To get the point across, the book is illustrated with many English and American press cartoons and caricatures.
In the back of the 6-1/8 x 8-5/8 inch, 110-page softcover book is a list with the original source of every cartoon and quote, complete with the date of the speech or publication date of the newspaper, most of them between 1920 and 1940: Daily Herald, New York Times, the Christian Science Monitor, the Baltimore Sun, St. Louis Globe Democrat, Morning Post, Cleveland Press and Cleveland Plain Dealer, Daily Chronicle, Chicago Daily Tribune, Manchester Guardian, Washington Post, London Times, etc.
As mentioned above, Mein Bundesgenosse was published by the SS Publishing House Nibelungen-Verlag in Berlin in 1942. It is a rare, frequently misunderstood or misrepresented Nazi book. The cover of this 78 year old example has yellowed over the decades, but the book is complete and in good used condition. The spine has been scotch taped.
