The 6-7/8 x 9-5/8 inch hardcover book has 78 pages, most with black & white photos. Erinnerungsbuch VI. Armeekorps starts with a full-page portrait of Adolf Hitler, accompanied by part of a speech he gave as Oberste Befehlshaber der Wehrmacht at the 1937 Nazi Party Days in Nuremberg. This is followed by a full-page portrait of Generalfeldmarschall Paul von Hindenburg. A full-page photo portrait of Commander-in-Chief of the German Army, Generaloberst Walter von Brauchitsch is on the page opposite the Soldier's Oath or Soldatenschwur.
Commanding General of the VI. Armeekorps and Head of Wehrkreis VI was General der Artillerie Günther von Kluge. His full-page photo portrait (shown below) is opposite the page which contains his foreword to his men, "comrades of the 6th Army Corps". This is followed by the 125 year history of the Iron Cross.
ErinnerungsbuchVI. Armeekorps (Remembrance Book 6th Army Corps) was published in 1938 by Verlag Erich Klinghammer of Berlin for the General Command of the 6th Army Corps. The VI. Armeekorps (VI.AK) was an infantry corps, formed around the 6th Division of the Reichswehr late in 1934 in Münster. During World War II, the 6th Army Corps took part in the invasion of France and Operation Barbarossa in the Soviet Union. A rebuilt version of the 6th Army Corps was in East Prussia in January 1945, and completely destroyed on the Baltic Coast by the Red Army in March 1945.
The rest of the book is filled with glossy photo pages showing the 6th Corps during a parade in Münster on 20 April 1938 (Hitler's 49th birthday), the gate of the Kaserne in Arnsberg, troops marching and training, a huge Reichskriegsflagge, cavalry troops on horseback, a huge artillery piece in action, vehicles and tanks, machine guns, communication troops, Pioniere building bridges, maneuvers and meeting the local population in the Eifel in 1937, soldier life, the new military hospital in Münster, endurance training, etc., etc.
There are also several photo pages of the Music Corps of the 6th Army Corps at work during Hitler's visit to Cologne and in Rome during Hitler's state visit to Mussolini. They also participated in the opening ceremony of the Wehrmacht Meisterschaften, a big German Armed Forces Sport event held in Düsseldorf in July 1937. One of the photos shows General von Kluge during a winners ceremony.
In the back there are a few blank pages, space to write down memories or for photographs. None have been filled out in this example of Erinnerungsbuch VI. Armeekorps. The sources of the photos are mentioned on page 64 and are by Presse-Illustration Hoffmann, Scherl, Weltbild, newspapers as well as private photos.
