Die neue Gemeinschaft - Das Parteiarchiv für nationalsozialistische Feier- und Freizeitgestaltung (The New Community - The Nazi Party Manual for National Socialist Holiday- and Recreational Activities) is a very rare publication of the Hauptkulturamt, the Main Culture Office of the Nazi Party and its leader, Hauptschriftleiter Hermann Liese. From 1936 onward Liese had been in charge of the Nazi Party Feier- und Freizeitgestaltung department which was located at the Nazi Ordensburg Vogelsang in the Eifel. In 1941, at the request of Dr. Joseph Goebbels this organization was moved to the Propaganda Ministry in Berlin.

This is the rare 5-5/8 x 8-1/2 inch, 64-page March 1942 issue of Die neue Gemeinschaft and it is all about Adolf Hitler.

In order to give community planners plenty of subject information for their local celebrations of Hitler’s birthday on 20 April 1942 there many excerpts of Hitler speeches from the early 1920 all the way through his speech to Parliament on 11 December 1941. There are Hitler’s thoughts about Roosevelt and Churchill, as well as many poignant Hitler quotations. There are paragraphs of praise for Adolf Hitler by Getrud Scholtz-Klink, Hermann Göring, Alfred Rosenberg, Dr. Joseph Goebbels and Hans Schemm as well as everal poems dedicated to Hitler by Dietrich Eckart, Baldur von Schirach and Kurt Eggers, for example.

Die neue Gemeinschaft - Das Parteiarchiv für nationalsozialistische Feier- und Freizeitgestaltung was published by the Zentralverlag der NSDAP Franz Eher Nachfolger, the Central Publishing House of the Nazi Party in Munich. This original 79 year old example is in very nice, little-used condition. Complete, no writing inside and no odor.

The last 14 pages of this fine March 1942 edition of Die neue Gemeinschaft have Feiergestaltung or suggestions for celebrations and programs for Hitler’s upcoming birthday. There are suggestions for simple (“but not primitive”) festivities as well as elaborate, longer programs, musical suggestions for small and very large orchestras using a variety of musical instruments, and tips for preparing successful celebrations.

Inside the back cover are conditions for use of this official monthly Nazi Party propaganda publication as well as the cost. The address of the Hauptamt Kultur der Reichspropagandaleitung in Berlin is listed for people who wished to write letters or send entries.
